India and the US have finished most trade talks and are fine-tuning the deal

Background
Under a February framework, the US agreed to remove a 25% penalty on Indian goods over Russian oil and cut its reciprocal tariff to 18%. Then the US Supreme Court struck down tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
How it works
Washington then used a different law: an extra 10% duty under a Section 301 probe into alleged forced labour, also applied to 16 other countries. That is lower than the 12.5% it had proposed in June.
